Perhaps this may have resulted from the teachings of his life during the Qing Dynasty but one thing for sure is that he loves his wife beyond measure and he demonstrates this by allowing her to do her social duties while he remains the head of the family. In fact, Shen Fu’s father confesses that his wife is the motivation behind him as far as writing the book Six Records of a Floating Life is concerned.

Ethical Dilemma Essay All healthcare professionals take the Hippocratic Oath, in this oath it states that, â€Å"I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. † (Miles, S. H. (2004) There are many different versions of this oath but the concept and meaning behind it remains unchanged. This section of the oath was designed in part to protect patient’s privacy. Building and establishing a relationship based on trust with our patients is essential in the foundation in providing good quality care. This allows our patients to feel comfortable discussing anything with us and knowing it will be kept confidential. In nursing ethics play a critical role, breaching confidentiality can have a magnitude of ethical consequences including legal issues and patients no longer trusting medical professionals. As healthcare professionals, we are faced with situations daily with an array of ethical, legal and professional responsibilities where we have to use our own personal judgments to protect both our patients but the public as well. As a legal concept, confidentiality can be said to be an obligation on one person to uphold the privacy and security of another person’s information. This legal obligation arises in several areas: under common law; in contract law where these terms can be express terms or implied; and as a general legal duty where it could be considered negligent if harm results as a consequence of a breach of confidence. † (Cornock 2011). Confidentiality does not override ethical principles in all cases, and some cases it would be considered unethical to not break confidentiality when a legal requirement makes a breach mandatory. Nursing encompasses the prevention of illness, the alleviation of suffering, and the protection, promotion, and restoration of health in the care of individuals, families, groups and communities. † (ANA 2010) This duty to such an extensive population can pose obvious conflicts both professionally and personally. Does the right to privacy of our patient over ride a safety concern to our community? In nursing practice nurses are able to use a variety of ethical theories and apply these to patient situations. â€Å"Deontologic theories hold that you are acting rightly when you act according to duties and rights. In other words, duties and rights are the correct measuring rods for evaluating a course of action and its outcome. † (Purtilo 90) People who follow this theory in their clinical practice have very consistent decisions as these are based on their duty. It becomes the healthcare provider’s duty and obligation to respect and protect a patient’s confidentiality. By breaching patients confidentiality breaks the trust that was built between patient and provider. â€Å"Utilitarianism, an act is right if it helps to bring about the best balance of benefits over burdens, in other words, the best â€Å"utility† or consequences overall. (Purtilo 92) This theory would be basing a decision on whether or not the action (breaking or not breaking confidentiality) brings out the best outcome. However, sometimes the best outcome isn’t legally correct. In the article â€Å"Bioethics on NBC’s ER: Betraying Trust or Providing Good care? When is it ok to Break Confidentiality? by Pamela Nathanson, we see a time when a healthcare provider is faced with an ethical dilemma on whether to break a patient’s confidentiality in order to protect the patient and the community. Like with any ethical dilemma there are steps that can be used to help a healthcare provider make a decision or help solve the problem. These steps include: 1) gather relevant information, 2) identify the type of ethical problem, 3) use ethics theories or approaches to analyze the problem(s), 4) explore the practical alternatives, 5) complete the action, and finally 6) evaluate the process and outcome. (Purtilo pg 102-110) Using this process healthcare professionals are able to make decisions to tough ethical dilemmas that come up in their clinical practice. I agree with Ms. Nathanson that the parents needed to be informed of their daughters diagnosis in order to prevent harm to the patient and ensuring the patient receives proper follow up care. I also agree that the school did not need to be informed of who the student was but to inform the school that it had come to the attention of medical professionals about sex parties going on in the school. By choosing this way you are ensuring the safety of your patient and the community with causing the least amount of damage. If you disclosed to the school who the student was as the nurse did in the show you risk unnecessary harm to your patient. Ethics committees are made up of members that include a lawyer, an ethicist, quality improvement manager, a nurse, a clergyman, a physician and an individual from within the community. By joining together these members with diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives they are able to come together to help develop different alternatives and discussions regarding ethical dilemmas that may arise. They are able to help provide recommendations in complex and challenging ethical situations. However, these decisions are not law but they do hold certain significance on influencing a judge or jury. (GCU) As long as health care deals with life and death, ethical dilemmas will come into play for medical professionals everywhere on a daily basis. Due to the nature of the medical profession, complex situations will require fast acting decisions that can be life changing for all parties involved. It is important to have a thorough knowledge of ethical theories and principles in the health care industry so medical professionals are prepared to make these decisions when they are faced with ethical dilemmas.

Organizational Diagnosis Plan Of Six Box Model Information Technology Essay The six-box model is a structure developed by the American analyst Marvin Weisbord to evaluate the performance of organizations. It is a general structure and is proposed for use across a wide variety of organizations. It is based mainly on the techniques and assumptions of the field of organizational improvement. The model represents a exacting way of looking at organizational structure and plan. It gives awareness to issues such as planning, incentives and rewards, the role of support functions such as personnel, internal competitions among organizational units, standards for remuneration, partnerships, hierarchies and the delegation of authority, organizational control, accountability and performance assessment. The model also follows the basic systems approach to organizational functioning including the well-known inputs and outputs categories. (The Marvin Weisbord Six-Box Model (Weisbords Model)) Table 1 1.0 Scope This plan provides information about Organizational Diagnosis control of XYZ. It is used to plan and implement organizational process based on a thorough understanding of the current strengths and weaknesses of the organizations processes and assets. 2.0 High-Level Overview Application Development is performed according to the phases of the Software Development Lifecycle. Below is a high-level overview. Each of these stages is described in more detail, in the sections that follow. Generally, a customer or site manager initiates a request for development based on the customers needs. The request is then analyzed to determine if it should be done as a request task or a project. If it should be a project, then it is analyzed to create a project charter. It should then be determined whether planning can be done with pre-allocated hours or whether a planning project is required. These results should be documented in the planning SOW, a planning schedule, and a PID if necessary. This can be done during by meeting with the customer depending on the scope of the project. The purpose of the planning project is to perform all of the planning and requirements analysis required in order to get an execution project approved. During the planning phase, business requirements and a project plan with all of its subordinate plans should be created. This can be done depending on the scope of the project. During the requirements analysis phase, the software requirements should be developed based on the project plan and business requirements. Then, an estimate should be created based on the project plan and software requirements. And finally, a schedule should be done based on the estimate, software requirements, and project plan. Once approved by the customer, these documents should be combined with an execution SOW. Once approved and resourced, the project and its resources are entered into the Project Lifecycle Application (PLA). Once approved, the execution project begins; and, the first phase is design. During this phase the architecture is developed and a test plan is created. The design and test plan are then reviewed and approved. Once approved, the construction phase begins. During this phase all components are created and integrated. The components will also be unit tested, integration tested, system tested, and then user tested. After construction, preparation to move the software to production is done. A Transition plan is created which is intended to train the support staff and users on the software and to coordinate its release to production. All help and support documentation should be created and approved. After the migration is complete, a post project meeting should be held to conduct lessons learned exercises. The Measurement Analysis repository should also be updated, analyzed and re-baseline when necessary. 2.1 Overview Organizational Diagnosis enables steady method routine across the organization and provides a foundation for cumulative, long-term benefits to the organization. The Quality Management System (QMS) is a group of items maintained by the organization for use by the employees and projects of the XYZ organization. This collection of items includes descriptions of diagnosis and process elements, descriptions of life-cycle models, process tailoring guidelines, process-related documentation, and data. The organizations Quality Management System supports organizational learning and process improvement by allowing the sharing of best practices and lessons learned across the organization. The organizations set of standard processes have been tailored by input from the Process Owners, XYZ QRB, MRB and the Director of Process Excellence to create XYZs defined processes. Additionally, tool manuals, templates, etc. have been incorporated into the extranet portal to provide all needed assets to perform the expected activities of a CMMI Level 3 and ISO 9001:2008 organization. 3.0 Purpose The purpose of Organizational Diagnosis Plan is to document and implement XYZ organizational diagnosis activities based on a thorough understanding of the current strengths and weaknesses of the organizations diagnosis and process assets. Vision: Grow into a leader in the Commercial industries by solving important logistics and supply chain problems on-time, under-budget, and with integrity and positive customer economic impact. Mission: Provide on time, on budget, logistics and technology solutions with unmatched integrity and business principles.   Values: Operate business with integrity and high ethical standards. 4.0 Structure The table two below provides a guide for the general software life cycle activities to which specific processes and procedures have been defined in this plan. A separate responsibility matrix has been provided that maps each activity and associated responsibilities. Some of the activities listed below may not apply depending on the project. The PMP will provide justification for skipping activities. The organization chart below provides the general structure of the XYZ organization. Table 5 Organization Chart Executive Management is responsible for Establishing the Quality Policy, and reviewing it for continuing suitability. Executive Management is responsible for Communicating the Quality Policy, the importance of meeting regulatory and statutory and customer requirements. Executive Management is responsible for identifying the Key Processes to be included in the QMS. Executive Management is responsible for identifying the data required for effective review of the QMS. Executive Management is the management review team. It is the responsibility of the Management Representative to schedule and conduct management review meetings in compliance with this procedure. The Management Representative is responsible for collecting summary reports and data from the responsible functions and for ensuring adequate employee awareness of the companys QMS. The Management Representative is responsible for bringing information and progress reports on action items assigned to them at previous management review meetings, information on planned changes that could affect the QMS, quality planning needs and activities and recommendations for improvements to the QMS. Executive Management consists of the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice President, Senior Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Senior Directors and the Management Representative. Product realization processes: the processes that contribute or result in the product being produced or the product being provided. Key Processes: product realization processes, customer related processes and quality management system processes that are included in the QMS. Each Software Development Project will have a Project Manager or Program Manager who is directly responsible for achieving the project objectives and defining the management team. The Project Management Structure will depend on the project size, scope and requirements. Table six below describes common configurations for the project management team. Reviewing and approving the relevant QA Plan. Resolving and following-up on any quality issues raised by QA. Assisting the independent Quality Control (QC) group from the project to audit and report on the projects QA functions and compliance with prescribed standards. Identifying the quality factors to be implemented in the system and the project as a whole. Project Management is responsible for: Implementing the quality program in accordance with the companys quality policies. Identifying the QA activities to be performed by QA. Reviewing and approving the QA Plan. Identifying and funding an individual or an independent group from the project to perform the QA functions. Resolving and following-up on any quality issues raised by QA. Identifying and ensuring the quality factors to be implemented in the system and software. Identifying, developing and maintaining planning documents such as the Program Management Plan, Test Plans, and the QA Plan. Qualifications include requirements for education, skills and experience. Appropriate qualifications, along with required training, provide the competence required for each position. 4.6.2 Competence, awareness and training Qualifications are reviewed upon hire, when an employee changes positions or the requirements for a position change. Human resources maintain records of employee qualifications. If any differences between the employees qualifications and the requirements for the job are found, training or other action is taken to provide the employee with the necessary competence for the job. The results are then evaluated to determine if they were effective. Training and evaluation are conducted according to the Human Resources. All employees are trained on the relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives. 4.7 Business Manager Job Description A business manager may take on a variety of different positions within a business, all of which involve the planning, directing, and coordinating of operations within a company.   A business manager is also responsible for developing policies and managing the daily operations of the business.   A business manager may also be responsible for planning for the most efficient use of materials and human resources. A business manager may specialize in a specific area of business operations.   For example, a business manager may specialize in purchasing, personnel, or administrative services.   In other cases, a business manager may cover all aspects of business operation.   A business manager may also be held accountable for the accuracy of financial reporting for the business. 5.0 Rewards Rewards will be base on each project if they finish on time and under budget. Cinematography Essay -- essays research papers

  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Today, the movie industry has become a huge moneymaker in the entertainment business. You cannot turn on the television without seeing advertisements for the next big blockbuster film. While most of the films these days entertain with amazing special effects or raunchy comedy, there are still films that thrive because of great acting, directing, and editing. Three films that I believe would be great examples of the way these aspects can cause a film to excel are ?Any Given Sunday?, ?The Cell?, and ?Almost Famous?. ?Any Given Sunday? shows how, by using editing, a movie can portray an intense situation realistically. In ?The Cell?, color is used to differentiate between how we see things in reality and how things are seen inside our heads. ?Almost Famous? is a great example of the ways that sound and acting can enhance the quality of a film.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Al Pacino, as run-down head coach Tony D?Amato, and Jamie Foxx, as energetic quarterback Willy Beaman, star in this behind the scenes look at the conflicts that occur inside a modern day professional football team. While the backstabbing and stubbornness of people involved in a football program are greatly exaggerated in this movie, I chose it because of its portrayal of the on-the-field action. Having played football in high school, this is the first film that has been able to effectively capture the speed and intensity through the movie screen. The movie gives you the emotions of every type of person involved in the football game. Every view from the players on the field to the coaches on the sidelines to the fans in the crowd and watching on television is shown. Quick cuts of slightly blurred panning shots along with close-up shots of the intense looks on players faces many times give the viewer the feeling that they are involved in the play themselves. The mo vie also geniously uses a combination of true speed and slow motion scenes to allow the viewer to experience both the speed and intensity of the moment at the same time. One montage begins with the team walking up to the line in true speed, goes to slow motion as Beaman surveys the defense, goes to full speed as the lines crash into each other on the snap and a defender closes in on Beaman. Then as soon as the hit is made, it is switched back to slow motion to highlight the viciousness of the hit. Betwe... ...as the artists are still shell-shocked from what had just occurred. Possibly an even better example of sound or music having a major role in this movie is a scene closer to the middle of the film. The day following major argument, followed by an acid binge by arguably the band?s leader had caused the tension in the band to culminate. On the bus, no one is talking to anybody else and the band seems on a crash course for a breakup. Then, the song ?Tiny Dancer? by Elton John comes on the radio. One band member begins to sing along and before you know it every person on the bus has joined in singing together. Just that one song was able to make them all realize that it is about the music and they could not let minor differences break them up. Instances like this happen over and over in this film making it a perfect example of the inspiration sound can bring to a movie.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  These three films each stand out in different aspects of cinematography and make their respective movie better because of it. After watching these films viewers should have a better idea of what makes a movie great and what things to look for themselves the next time they go to the theatre.

It improves transportation by helping people move from one corner of the world to other in hours by using transportation services such as Airways, Railways, or even Bus Transportation. Modern Technology changed people’s lifestyle and the way they live. For example, now it’s possible to surf Internet on TV, watch programs, pause Live TV, and even playback live shows. Internet surfing is a technology revolution. Because of that technology, a person could know what is happening on the other side of the world, chat with others about different matters and even talk using Instant Messaging Services. Watching TV on computers too is possible. Due to Internet, it is now possible to say that the world is at your fingertips. Recent discoveries and scientific breakthroughs such as Cracking the DNA code and Mapping the Genome may completely change the way people look even before they are born. Parents can change color of their unborn son’s eye from blue, black or brown. Diseases that are passed through generations, like diabetes, chronic diseases may be eliminated from the unborn child. Such changes will create a child who is disease free and completely immune from world diseases. This might be helpful, as people would be healthier than before. Due to genetic alteration it maybe possible to extend human life expectancy, therefore an average person may possibly live up to 150 years healthily. These are few and best examples that Modern Technology and Science have greater impact on Human beings and the Earth than anything else mankind has done before. Even though with these many Scientific and Technological advancements, there are huge backdrops and disadvantages, Scientific and Technological advancements are improving our way of life, but in this conquest of knowledge, this advancement is hurting the Earth and also acting in a negative way people live. Development of Nuclear Arsenals is one such example, which could seriously harm Earth’s environment. Chernobyl blast is the best example of how these Nuclear Plants could lead to death of millions of lives now and in the future. Use of chemical and destructive weapons might one day bring the world to a dead end where there is no more humanity because of people’s quest for knowledge. Other matters of concern are continuous use of limited resources such as oil and coal, and increase in pollution in atmosphere due to these minerals. Therefore, Scientific Advancements may also make the world worse. If after 10 years, Genetic Mutation is made possible to extend life expectancy, people will live longer and death rate will decrease thus creating a serious problem where more resources will consumed and lead to eventual destruction of forests and natural habitats to make way for people. Therefore, Scientific and Technological advancement is not always good even if it is making the lives of people better and their lives healthier. This balanced mixture of pathos and humor helps to transform the Hoover family’s chaotic voyage from New Mexico to California into a captivating story. Directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris have produced an exceptional film. This dramatic comedy, filmed in Arizona and Southern California, and made for a mere three million dollars, proves that an amazing movie that both looks and sounds great (without special effects) can be made on a budget. While the predicable tale of a dysfunctional family has never been overly surprising, the absurd mishaps of the Hoover family make the story exceptionable. Little Miss Sunshine follows the path of a family struggling to remain together, while driving 800 miles (in their yellow VW bus) from Albuquerque to Redondo Beach – to the â€Å"Little Miss Sunshine† beauty pageant (the namesake of the movie.) The voyage, rocky and unpredictable, causes tension among all of the family members. Despite minor disputes, whenever the entire family becomes affected by unfavorable conditions, they bind together to push the journey forward, without question. Their quest represents both a r oad-trip to California, and the personal quests of self-discovery among each of the family members. The first character to be introduced is Olive (Abigail Breslin). Cute, and slightly rotund, like her name, Olive focuses on her dream of becoming the next â€Å"Little Miss Sunshine.† Her undeniable innocence causes distress among viewers, because of her willingness to partake in a shallow pageant that contradicts her character. Coach to Olive for the â€Å"Little Miss Sunshine† pageant is her grandfather, played by Alan Arkin. Despite his protectiveness of Olive, he more often portrayed as an ornery heroin addict, who was kicked out of his convalescent home and forced to live with his son’s family. His son, the annoyingly stubborn Richard (Greg Kinnear), spends his time promoting his (perpetually unsuccessful) â€Å"Nine Steps† to becoming a winner. His ideals circulate around this declaration: â€Å"There are two kinds of people in this world, winners and losers.† To Richard, his stepson, nonconformist Dwayne (Paul Dano) exemplifies a follo wer of the â€Å"Nine Steps,† through his determination in maintaining a vow of silence until his goal is reached. However, the expressions of angst-ridden, mute Dwayne reveal his resentment toward this idea. Mother to Olive and Dwayne, is Sheryl (Toni Collette), the supporter of the family, financially and emotionally. Sheryl acts as the glue to sustain what minimal stability the Hoover’s have. Her maternal instincts even affect her outcast brother, Frank (Steve Carell). After a failed attempt at suicide, Frank is compelled to live with the Hoover family and even travel with them to California. Though depressed, Frank’s sarcasm, combined with his intellect (as a former professor), add wry humor to the plot. Each character in Little Miss Sunshine is extremely different to the next, and each follows his or her own journey of development. Olive learns to become comfortable in her own skin, the Grandpa continues to act as he wants, Richard accepts the possibility of imperfections, Dwayne accepts the idea to â€Å"do what you love,† but with love, Sheryl finds happiness by bringing the family together, and Frank accepts and appreciates his life. While each character does progress, this maturity only occurs with the assistance of the clashing, chaotic family members. This heartfelt, emotional, problematic, and simply amazing story of family values, dealing with people, expectations, love, and hate, and everything in between achieves the task of filling the soul with sadness, laughter, and joy.
